I guess I won't attempt to factor in inflation or currency devaluation or whatever but that was probably a 4 or 5 dollar tip. Nothing to sneeze at for that era. Seems funny now that smoking was acceptable everywhere and anytime, times do change.
I've never been in a taxi as well. I guess the occasion has just never arisen. I dunno!
