I hear ya. But keep this in mind. There are a LOT of kids out there who are born with no better than average intelligence and are being raised* by single parents* or grandparents who don't have (or want to) the time that's required to give a kid a chance to keep up much less excel. Therefore in most public schools you have such a wide range of knowlege/skills that it's hard to teach without leaving some behind and boring some to tears (or worse). Maybe retirement age for teachers needs to be lowered? How do you balance new knowlege (relevance) with experience? I've said for a long time that "it's a good thing these young guys don't know it can't be done". *denotes sarcasm ;)) |
