Subject: Re: Steel Cable for Fence

Western Nebraska
From my own limited experience with the stuff it will be a pain in the butt to handle. We have some from old power lines that I think was half an inch. That stuff was absolutely impossible to do anything with. I didn't have the equipment to handle it right, but cutting it is a pain and bending it around the posts is also a pain. If you want to see some pics of our HT runways I will post them. I found that system much easier than using the cable.

It always irritates me when people suggest something entirely different than what I was asking about, but I think by the time you get done with the splicing and rolling this mess up you may be ready to pull your hair out. If you decide to use the cable I would use clips instead of holes punched through the pipes. There is probably less chance of wearing the cable out quickly with the clips. I would think the problem you will have on that size of cable is keeping it tight.
