| We used 1/2 in. steel cable on a feedline in 2002 and it worked fine. It's adjustable and we just cinched it tight to the posts, no tighteners. Now after years of use it has started to fray and am going to replace it with maybe 3/4 in. sucker rod. The pins were eroding (they were a softer metal) and I thought I would weld the grooves, smooth them with the grinder and be back in business. Well the hard weld did a good job of fraying the cable. Maybe if I just put new pins in it would have been better. I was told to never use cable that came from the oil field. The salt does a number on the cable. We bought new for about 90 cents a foot. I'll make an attempt at posting a few pics.
