Subject: RE: Steel Cable for Fence

From my experience at utility work, 7/8 is going to be a real ba$t@rd to work with.  Most electric lines are guyed with 5/16 or 1/2 inch and those are fairly easy to wrap around posts and clamp back together.  A question you need someone to answer is what spec it is, standard strength, high strength, or extra high strength.  Standard will is a whole lot easier to work with than EHS.  Blowing a hole through the posts to install wire will work as this cable will have very little movement once installed and tensioned propery.  Some cattle people in the area have used the smallere stuff that way.  Try to call if you want to discuss further.  I would take some for a short run and try it, but then I'm kind of weird that way.
