Subject: You Guys are Not Kidding...

Hazelton, Kansas

Row Cropper:

I hesitate to comment, as a total outsider. However, I usually try to get back into Illinois/Iowa at least once every couple of years. To me, it almost always looks like the Garden of Eden.

This year, I went eastbound on I-70 across Missouri and Illinois, and westbound back to Kansas on 136. I thought crops along I-70 looked reasonably good...a few damaged low areas, but OK overall.

136 was a different story, especially for beans. I saw substantial acres (maybe 15% of the total) of very short, waterlogged, late planted beans. I hope they have the benefit of a long, mild fall.

I concluded that this IS a challenging year for many in central Illinois and NE Missouri...but I saw only a small part of the whole picture.

Observations only...no offense intended.

Regards.

MDS
