| Price a 468, especially if you aren't normally making 5x6 "full size" bales. There's more area in a 4x6 than a 5x5. We went to 4x6's about 5 years ago and are happy with the transition. Bales are legal width hauling on the highway, less loss from the feeders because you aren't stuffing them absolutely full every time, etc, etc. As for the falling over, I've had a couple fall over, but, I've also had 5x6's fall over in the same spots, probably has to do with the bales more than the width. A modern 4 foot baler won't give you many problems if you stuff the sides. FWIW, we're running a CaseIH RBX 462. I've sold second and third cutting Alfalfa bales weighing 1600 lbs, and 1250 lb grass bales are common. Second cutting grass normally runs around 1400 lbs. | |
