What I have personally seen, beans is your best bet. As others have stated use an innoculant for the ability to fix more N. Another recomendation is to use an insecticide. That ground has laid idol for all them years and the grubs, wireworms, etc populations are going to be high. I have seen good results from beans being no tilled into these situations.
