That's what I read between the lines in the latest Monsanto 'newsletter' about field scale and small plot trials. They were saying that the edge effect in small plot trials favors certain varieties. What I see in that is they believe the Invigor varieties get a leg up in yield on the small plots because of this effect.

Also, I see some of the plots that are used for yield data here in Alberta for cereal yield data -a little neglected! I were a company putting millions of dollars into technology and saw my products treated that way, I may want to pull out as well.
