Subject: Re: Highest Yields or Most Profit per Acre

North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !
No, To The Highest Yield is the Most profit Theory for the FARMER ???

The PROFIT only works for the People Manufacturing and selling Those,
( If you use this product you will get 20 more Bu ??? )

last year, and for the past 20 some years we had side by side corn plots that have averaged 189 Bu with 140 units of Nitrogen applied ONLY ! 2 out of the past 3 years the average was 198 Bu per acre rate on Whole fields Bu. sold across the scale.

One example last year was where we added 100 lbs of urea and 50 lbs of 11-52-0 on 100 acres of corn and yes, the increased Bu. Paid for that additional N and P but with not a nickle profit over for the farm.

We have seen the same with Row insecticide, Row P, starter and pop up fertilizer along with side dress applications. and Fungicide !

last season as always we had a farm split with 140 units pre plant NH3 and a Dry blend of N. preplant, No side dress and Both Sites went 196 and 198 respectfully so it was a wash. The 800 acres with only 28%, at 160 Units side dress went 197 Bu.

As we go over the 140 to 160 Units of Nitrogen rate we start to Pay for Every additional Bu. with No return on investment. Looking back over the years.

Yes, some fields went 230 Plus but it was a different Company and BT corn and most of the rest was VT3 and conventional. so we have to weigh this into the factor !

Some Corn just out produces for the same applied Nutrients applied and the corn that has gone 230 Plus 3 out of the last 4 years has cost 30% less for seed so yes, this Does Increase the Margin of Profit also !!!

So for the sold across the scale Bu paid to the farmer over the years it is hard to pay for those ( Extras ) and get a nice return season after season as long as you have an adequate Dry Broadcast or Good Liquid program working together. Complimenting one another. But 90 % of the time we use ALL Dry for the best basic agronomy Nutrition for the $ invested.
