Subject: RE: corn on corn spring tillage

Central Illinois
i would use the finisher (twice) and then sidedress your N needs, i did this last year on flat black ground and was extremely pleased. In fact, this year i have about 200 acres that i plan on doing a similar program.. (50-60 lbs of nitrgen in AMS sulfate over winter for stalk digestions, spring finish, 90 lbs of 28%, finish again, plant, sidedress 90 lbs of N with 28%). I dont care what anyone says, these newer style finishers are more than capable of handling high residue. Last year i did some 30-40 acres of standing cornstalks in a light rain and it looked better than i thought!!!! Imagine if we get a spring day with sun, wind and a little heat..... those stalks will shatter when hit with these finishers (with good ground speed).....

T800 what type of finisher do you have, mine is a deere 2310.

Goodluck, we going to need some ;)
