Lee Co | I expect the first comment to be why not try no till but this is the situation.
Have a few hundred acres of cornstalks that we couldn't get chisled since it was mid january befor we got the corn off. Was hopeing for a winter thaw to be able to chisel and then get some more freezing but I feel it's too late for that now. Ground is pretty flat-black and want to apply spring ammonia ahead of planter. also to warm up the ground. and still need to work plow-down fert. in.
-we have considered using a disk but don't like the roll/pack issue, then ammonia, then finisher ahead of planter
-finisher early, then ammonia, then finisher ahead of planter (will work in standing stalks)
- strip till ammonia applicator then plant
-other ideas?
would like to hear what has or hasn't worked for others since this is the first time we have been in this situation | |
