| Get it on now. You are in a dry area that may or may not get rain at the right time to incorporate the N. If you wait until a few days before jointing and don't get rain for a few weeks, the N will add very little to yield. Start with the fields that are the thinest or most N defficent. If you have 500-800 tillers now, and conditions remain favorable, I would guess you will end up with 400-600 at heading. If you have good moisture, don't skimp on the N. If it stays cool and moist it will turn into bushels, but if the wheat fails due to drought, the N will still be there next year. | |
