Subject: Re: Wood Ash as Liming Source

Finland, up there in north where noboby farms!
They do it here...Also lot of "steel factory resudue". Ash is hard to spread widely and there seem to be some talk about heavy metals on it. We have bid need for liming here and people are always looking cheeper options to do it. It just seem to be so, you get what you pay: If it is cheap it eighter will not work much on your pH or it is slow action. Looks like you need pump up your pH lot and fast.

This must feel like bad joke, but here is all you wanna know about wood ash for liming....it just might be little hard to read for you? Could you google it in english? It says "liming value" is as good as any limestone and it is fast too.
