Lapel, In | Don't you miss those days, Charlie ? I sure do. We worked hard and we ate --well------well we ate and ate and ate. Then we worked it off. I remember mom making strawberry shortcake with that flakey lard pie crust of hers. Didn't know what shortcake was nor did we know what sweet corn was. It was field corn boiled in a little sugar water. Anyone remember canned sausage patties ? Fried mush ? Pork chops with some fat on them ? Fried chicken that had been walking around a half hour before. Now that was FRESH . | |
