SW Minnesota
See 514.966 AGRICULTURAL LIEN ON LIVESTOCK. at https://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/statutes/?id=514.966&year=2008&k... . If those guys had went to see an attorney they could have got a priority lien. and would have got their name on the pig check. The results would have been the same except some attorney would have got a relatively small fee. I guess it was kind of cowboy justice.
I know of one out fit in your area that put up a new sow farm a couple of years ago. Now his loan officer is helping him negotiate concessions with contract feeders who are also borrowers with that lender. It justice makes me mad that these buildings are set up with so little positive cash flow until they are paid for. Now as soon as times gets tough the contract feeder is supposed to bite the bullet. Are the pig owners going to give bonuses when they start making money again. I think not! If I fed for free it would not make the margins positive.
