The standard F9P that Ardusimple sells has headers into which you can plug a bluetooth module, wifi module, or most commonly a XBEE radio module. The XBEE modules can have ranges in miles.

Plenty of people have one of these setup as a permanent base using XBEE radios with AgOpenGPS. There is no reason that you couldn't use one as a mobile system other than that you'll have to rig up your own pole/battery/enclosure. A USB battery bank would power it for a couple days I think.
