Personally, I would get a red one. The rotary will do a better job of what a combine is suppose to do, that's why you see rotors in pretty much all the new machines.
The biggest benefit to the IH is that you can always upgrade parts. We have an '81 1480, has had updates to equal a 1688 (except for the sieve size), and now are putting in a specialty rotor. The same basic design has stayed the same over the 30+ years of the IH combine, most of the changes have been in making adjustments easier and improving the overall efficiency of the machine; hence the benefit of being able to update to newer and better parts.
Rotaries are not the end all beat all and do not do as good as a conventional in things such as wheat and oats.If all you have is corn,go with red.If you do corn,beans and wheat go with the 7720.All rotors do is let you go faster WHEN IT IS DRY.The Deeres are not as hard to work on as most lead you to believe.
