plowboy -What's up with the "any debt is bad" attitude?

What's up with the "retirement accounts are sacred cows" attitude?

It's all simple math, why turn it into some philosophy question?

The "any debt is bad" attitude is a philosophical choice based on experience and perception.  I would prefer to be debt free ... I have just not committed myself to it enough to achieve it.

I don't know "retirement accounts are sacred cows", but it's not all simple math.  There are special circumstances involved with an IRA that need to be considered before just pulling money out of one.  You need to consider that it will increase your taxable income as well as trigger a penalty for making the withdrawl.  So before one does it he needs to make sure it it what he really wants and it fits in his financial plan.
