There are many, many aspects of life with all sorts of gray areas.  All the value judgment threads that we see on here are in actuality dealing with areas which are subject to personal opinion.  I've tried to point that out to some of our friends on the far right many times.

 

I just don't happen to think mathematics is a field which contains gray areas.  Given a set of facts, there is going to be a definite answer.   Either A is better, B is better, or they are equivilent.  Since we were not given enough facts, how can you pick either answer as right?

 

The purpose of the thread was to promote discussion of the topic.  It did that, didn't it?
