A start point, would be go to your circuit breaker box, look at what size your main is. I would think it wouldn't be prudent to go any bigger than that, as a starting point.
I have a 100 amp, main and only a 60-amp generator setup, that works just fine. But I don't have every light on in the house either, when on generator power.
Generator sizing ?
