| Under the right conditions, I could spray with a $2000 homemade speed/pressure rig and do a very effective job. Done it for years, and still would if my monitor or radar crapped. To the profit-minded farmer, the "more effective" sprayer is the sprayer that can run in a variety of conditions including light winds, varying weed pressure, and all different speeds depending on chemistry and carrier. Spray-Air is OK, but for most dryland row crop farmers the cost, risk, and waiting for a so-called non-windy day [to play the off-label low chemistry game] just isn't worth it. At the end of the day, market share tells the story, and Spray-Air still plays into a niche market when you look at unit sales. | |
