Use a needle or safety pin and poke under the front of the nail to drain it and take the pressure off.
OH OUCH!!! Why does that sound painful as heck? There is live tissue under the nail.

When you drill or burn through the nail you are going through nail that has no nerves of feelings in it and that would have to be less painful than poking a hole through good live tissue with nerves under-the nail.
Will this finger get better without treatment?
