Subject: RE: Well Pressure Tank Question

NW Missouri
That explanation makes sense. Thanks. The pressure tank is lower in elevation than most of the waterers, so it sounds like it won't actually do me any good to leave the old one hooked up.

What you described in the second part is what I have been trying to do. But I've about decided the leak in the bladder must be a small leak so the water is slow to seep in - and more importantly air is slow to seep out when I drain the tank to set the air pressure. If that was the case, I could set the pressure at 30 lbs or whatever, but then the air will slowly leak out of the bladder and 5 minutes later it might be 10 lbs. So in other words, a bladderless tank would work, but a tank with a small hole in the bladder won't. Or at least it's really hard to get set just right. In the meantime I've just been using rural water, so it's not an emergency, but I would like to get it fixed sooner rather than later. Sounds like I need to do it right and just replace the old tank with a new one.
