As mentioned by Nlegler, I think my main concern about planting corn into 30" rye would be early availability of N and S.

Rye terminated at 30" will start falling down fairly quickly but has taken up most of the plant available N and S in the top 4" and will release these nutrients slowly.

What is your plan for N and S? If you only applied fall anhydrous and did not apply any N with the planter, you are likely to take a significant yield hit unless you can get some supplemental N applied quickly.
