I had a similar situation a couple years ago, corn was spindley for a while but seemed to come out of it. There did seem to be a bit of a yield hit compared to the fields next to it that was killed off early.
Same for beans for me, if the cover is tall they get leggy and no pods on the bottom 8 inches and want to fall down.
I have given up letting the cover get big and planting green until I can get a way to roll the cover flat.
