Subject: cover crop concerns about cash crop

North west Il.
I am a first time cover crop guy I am wondering if I'm going to take a yield hit, planted cereal Rye last fall it got a lot taller than I wanted before termination due to weather temp. rain etcetera. put fall ammonia on with tool bar so i planted in the ammonia strip in good soil conditions and have good emergence what is now my concern is the rye in-between my corn rows is of coerce still standing tall 30 inches or so it is dying but seems to want to stay standing is my corn plant's going to struggle for for sunlight and in turn reduce yield or am I over thinking this. I am hoping guy's with real word experience would respond to my concern not looking for a debate of the good and the bad of cover crops or naysayers. Thanks for any constructive advice or observations. Phil
