Fiftyniner - 5/18/2022 12:29 The solar sites are converting ag land into industrial land. What happens when ag land gets re-assessed by the county as industrial property due to the solar panels. I don't know what an industrial power generation site pays in taxes per acre on average, but I bet it's taxed WAY more than ag land. It could make that $1000 per acre look pretty poor.

The solar company is responsible for any tax increase from zoning changes.  Pretty standard and simple.  Hope this answers your question and calms your fears.

The total tax bill will depend on state and local laws.  Going off memory here but in the state of WI, the solar company is required to pay about $4k per megawatt annually that goes directly to county and township coffers.  So for a 500acre project it would be $400,000 split between county and township every year.  My county could fix a lot of potholes and bridges with a steady income stream like that.
