NE OHIO | As a parts guy at a dealership with nearly 30 yrs experience, most of it has to do with how well it was taken care of. If the machine broke down a lot when it was new it didn't stay around because they didn't spend money fixing it. I have a customer that still planted 50 acres of corn with a 494 Deere planter until 2019 that the family had bought new, it got regularly service at the end of every season. And yes, still original fertilizer hoppers. Another customer has stuff they bought new in the 1970's that is still used today that may have faded paint but still functions properly. I have seen guys that take a new piece of equipment and have it for say 10 years, that I would embarrassed to tow it to the junk yard. | |
