| The first time it happened….I panicked a bit as I smelled something hot when the engine would not shut off. But as I recall, the volt gage in cab was reading 11….The “something hot “ was the fuel shut off solenoid melting. Apparently it’s only energized when the starter is engaged….said Cummins.
This would seem consistent with putting voltage back through ground?
At the same time….why would it start a few times and work ok.
After I got it shut off this afternoon….I had one of the kids turn it back on while I stood by starter with a hammer. Starter didn’t stick…this time. | |
