Central IL | I am in Tazewell County. Most fields here have some down corn. Only a few isolated ones are as bad as that. 2 of the 3 I have seen that were as bad as that turned out to be popcorn. Evidently popcorn has skinnier stalks. As far as the 2/3 milk line corn Spanner mentioned, there is almost no 2/3 milk line corn left around here. Probably a field or two per township that was late planted. Probly half the corn in the area has died before black layer due to disease and wind damage. Quite a few combines running hard today. 22 to 23 % moisture catching the late april planted 109-110 day corn. The rest is rushing to finish due to heat, wind damage, and disease. Not many record yields here in central IL this year. Some of the dryland sand fields with good drainage in eastern Tazewell and Mason County look pretty good from the road.
