Amherst WI | I think the main thing that is important is that the borrower knows what the lenders numbers need to look like to approve a loan and why.
My first real "ag banker" was a yes man about ready to retire. Anything I wanted was yes, that is not good when you have no guidance from anyone and your in your early 20's. It made it hard to climb out of that mess, but we did and learned some from it. Looking back I wished he would have worked with me more and how to look at things from a lenders point of view. I was farming for close to 20 years before I understood many of the ratios that lenders use. Nobody taught me even with 2 years of college.
