East of Broken Bow
My mom was given 3 months to live, 6 months at 'maximum' by 2 experts. Dad took her to a place that was using experimental unapproved drugs. 2 years later, she went in for a checkup to one of the Doctors who expected her to pass away a year and a half earlier. Said he couldn't believe his eyes.
Didn't cure her cancer, but gave her a couple more years of life, and a pretty decent standard of living, to boot. Up to the night before she passed, she really wasn't in much pain, and was still very coherent and could carry on a good conversation. She was weak/run down, but not really suffering.
Contrast that with the standard chemo and other treatments that were almost like torture, and not really working all that well, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
