Texas | I think this comes down to how badly you want to rent their land.
It sounds like the owners are very unfamiliar with agriculture and fell for misinformation. They probably should have investigated further before reacting; but reality is, it all comes down to their bottom line.
Other than experiencing frustration and losing some warm fuzzy feelings, you have not lost anything at this point.
I see three options: 1. Rent again at the rate that all parties were happy with prior to this incident. 2. Make a different offer, and be willing to risk losing to another farmer. 3. Decide to walk away from renting their land.
