That is kind of what I thought when I read his post too. But everybody is entitled to their opinion so I let it go. Glad you posted it. Have a buddy that enlisted to go to Vietnam when he was 16 or 17 (with parental permission). About same age as I am (my class was last year of draft lottery). He was pretty gung ho when he went in, not so much when he came out. Helicopter crash and lost the whole platoon except for himself and a buddy that later committed suicide because of survivors remorse. Laid up in a hospital for months and lost his hearing (cochlear implant now) from the incident. Green Beret. He wears a mask, but he is a nurse in a hospital. A VA hospital for many years till retirement, now a regular hospital part time. He vacillates between being liberal minded but has lots of guns and generally freedom minded so does not fit the mold. A little too much "government does best" minded for me but he is coming around. John |
