Southeast Colorado | Yes. There is an annual forage insurance program. It is based strictly off rainfall amounts. In the beginning it worked out well for a lot of the participants (I wasn't one of them). Now it's kind of hit and miss. It's an attempt to even up forage with grains on the insurance side of things. But there certainly hasn't been a lot of love for disaster type payments for forage.
But I do stand corrected with regards to there being nothing available. It's just certainly not on par with the grains. | |
