That's the key. Finding a sweet spot of balance with inputs and yields. That takes a lot of luck "here". Can't plan for the worst or I'd spread no potash or phosphorous and I'd plant 15k per acre. The flip side is how laughable it is talking to the 23 year old regional seed rep telling me I need to plant 40k on dryland Plainfield sand, or the new agronomy salesperson looking at a soil test and making a rec for 600 lbs/acre of dry.

The middle works, but a little luck skimping on inputs and getting respectable yields would be helpful.
