In the marginal land or western dryland areas federal crop is the only way to go. It gave a false economy to these areas and are more for the benefit of Farm credit and equipment dealers than farmers. Federal crop does not work well for farms that are 100% irrigated. Just an opinion of mine. The insurance industry saw the huge subsidies ag was getting and federal crop allowed insurance agents to get a piece of the pie.
