I am willing to make that transition and am actually set up pretty well to do so. However, right now, those other things aren't paying the bills either. For some damn reason the govt keeps throwing the biggest dollars at corn and beans. Why is it necessary to encourage the overproduction of these two crops? When I increase forage acres there's never a subsidy for that............so even when it makes sense...........I HAVE to factor in the loss of a govt payment.
Agreed. A friend and I were just discussing this the other day. How grandpa had corn, beans, wheat, oats, and alfalfa. We both agreed it would be great to be able to do that, but only two of the five have any sort of profitability and a couple don't even have buyers. |
