Western illinois | We farmers are in the perfect catch 22 situation now. We’ve over produced to the extent that prices have tanked and the only way to make it is to produce a huge crop. Yet another huge crop just lowers prices even more. It seems to be a game we can’t win without new demand coming from somewhere. It’ll be interesting to watch and see how many planes are flying in a couple of weeks. I know some will throw the kitchen sink of inputs at this crop because the potential is there. There are others that have spent their last dime and will let the chips fall where they may. Personally, I will treat with fungicide only when necessary. I’ve never had a great response on corn. | |
