| I have been farming with my dad and uncle for a few years now I have bought some equipment now but they still own 80% of what I use to farm. I pay for my own fuel and pay my share of repairs and maintenance. At the end of the year if the repair bill is 40k and I farmed 25% of the acres I pay 10k of the bill. I try to work hard and maintain there stuff very well and be an asset to there operation. But in reality I'm sure I dont come close to paying custom rates. Situation might be different depending or you're son. Does he have a great job off in the city and wants to "pay" to farm maybe come home a few weekends and help you plant and harvest his field? Or is he going to be there every morning and night of the week helping with all the work of your farm too? | |
