What you're experiencing is not specific to DD-WRT itself. When you configure the "client" device to you give it a static IP address? When you try to access the "client" device are you trying while connected to the second device? Is the "client" device handing out IP addresses on its LAN (so that the second device is receiving an IP address on its WAN?)
