east central ND | Went from a 1508 to a new hx15 last year. Everything from the Drive lines and gearboxes much, much heavier. When I was comparing Last year, the hx15 and CX15 had the same part number shafts and gearboxes, earlier serial number breaks were different, but I do not know when it changed. Cx was a thicker deck, a hard to hook up ball hitch, and a few other heavier goodies like rear hubs. There are about 60 grease zerks on my hx15.
The 1508 I got rid of was very, very worn. Some parts no longer available. Tapered shafts with a key to mount the blade holders on. Blade bolts only had a round shaft with a nib to keep from turning. Somewhere in the lineage, maybe the 1518?, the blade holder mount was on a splined shaft, and the blade bolts were made with a hex in them to prevent turning when tightening. | |
