Northeast Missouri | The 1508 is, obviously, the older of the bunch. The 1518 is an updated version of the 1508 while the 1517 is a lighter duty cutter. As for the "CX/HX/MX" models, think "Commercial duty", "Heavy duty" and "Medium duty", respectively. The 1508 has staggered front edges on the body itself and I believe the 1518 has a tapered front. The later cutters do not have support members above the body that trap moisture and dirt. The body is "2-ply" with the support members sandwiched between these. Hope this helps.
