Donnellson, IA. Makes saying here easier. | I have strip tilled for 12 years now. And have been toying with N rates and forms since we started. Still run many acres with nh3 and p&k on custom. Been doing urea on a few acres and had good results. We plant directly on the strips and see a benefit there. To truly see the best ROI on your farm and honestly not sacrifice yields you have to take advantage or the efficiencies of the banding. We were at .67 on bean stubble this year and .81 on some COC. We run MES or MESZ in the strip and love the concept of everything seeing the same nutrients at the same timing. This trial was actually planted after rye and went through the intense dry spell we had so yield wise pretty okay for 50 CSR soils. The trial is with 50-40-45-15.5S banded 6-7" deep. With vs. without micros. 6 units from the pop up. 52.5-0-0 with chem pass for a 108 total N. Maybe not 240 corn but in a 150 aph county a little more research is ahead for sure. Handling the dry can add some volume too so it slows you down a little but switching tanks and filling with dry never match up so it's almost a wash. Here is the trial not bad Nitrogen efficiency.
