west central Iowa | Our house is about 12 years old, our cabinets were from Menards, look very similar to Johnny skepticals, but were finished when we bought them. We've been happy with them and they seem to be holding up well. The floor is real oak from Menards, was cheaper than laminate at the time and its holding up pretty good. Can't tell you cost, but our whole house was $75000 to remodel part and build part new.
Edited to add I built cabinets for the first house we lived in and they turned out pretty good. Only problem was I built them in the shop and the corner cabinet with the turntable wouldn't fit through the 32" front door so the savings on the cabinets was spent on a new 36" front door. They're not hard to build, a good table saw and a router table is all you need.
