Subject: RE: Opinions on auto shift in semi

Paducah, ky
Bought an 07 mack with an Eaton ultra shift (no clutch) last fall from local mack dealer. The thing didn't shift right from the start. Got to where it would strand you in an intersection and couldn't find a gear. Didn't matter if you had it in manual or D. Would have to come to a complete stop for it to find a gear. After several trips to the dealer and replacing every wiring harness from the transmission to the firewall and from firewall to computer, the xy shifter, and a solenoid(probably about $5k in parts and labor) the transmission shifts like it should. Thankfully the dealer covered all the costs but it was a very stressful time and a huge pain in the butt to get everything lined out! Would only act funny with truck loaded so that added another element of frustration to the process.

I like driving the truck now that it shifts properly but I will say that I think its kinda doggish taking off. I have had loaded trucks take off at a stop light faster than me empty.
