C IL | Well, they put a data logger on the trucks of a bunch of guys like you and studied how they shifted over millions of miles. Then they built a transmission that did exactly that every time, no matter what.
Computers are great at repetition. They don’t get tired, they don’t get a gear in partway and chip a tooth, etc.
Can you shift better than a computer for a long while? Sure. Can you, with experience, see the terrain in front of your truck and choose your gears more carefully for optimum power than the computer? Sure.
But fleets aren’t going this way for fun. And the transmission will continue to improve and the efficiencies will catch up with you. It’s kind of like being able to plow a straight furrow. Once the mark of a top notch farmer, now a niche skill. | |
