| But - the question would then be - *when* in the 80s? The mid-80s would have been a great time to start, IMHO. I remember buying machinery for very reasonable prices - in fact, I bought a 7700 combine for $11000 that I used for many years. The "experts" by that time had changed their tunes from "they aren't making any more land" to "you can't afford to own land - own the machinery and rent the land." (How's that advice working out today?)
Again, when in the 80s would be the question. If it was after 1985 (for most of the investments), timing couldn't be much better. The troublesome time to get started would have been in the later 70s, IMHO. | |
