E.Central MN | Look around. It doesn't take as many people to run massive amounts of land anymore. We won't need the same numbers of young operators to take over as older farmers retire. If it stays unprofitable long enough then rents will drop and big operations that are diversified enough will be able to take over even larger amounts of land than some operate now. Perhaps diversified 100,000 acre farms will become the new norm in 30 years. | |
